The Development Associate will be responsible for the advancement and optimization of Pine Gate's project pipeline. The Development Associate will complete this task through assistance in M&A processes (including acquisitions and dispositions), strategic review of projects owned by Pine Gate under development, collaboration with development capital providers, and market research to achieve successful outcomes. The Development Associate will work closely with the individual project developers and market strategy leads to synthesize information across the entire pipeline of assets to increase long-term organizational value.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct due diligence and project analysis for PV solar projects in various states.
  • Work alongside the development, construction, and project finance teams to project expenses and refine budgets.
  • Interface with project buyers during diligence and manage development teams to progress asset sales.
  • Participate in the negotiation of transaction documents for acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Create reporting tools to appropriately articulate development timelines and risks to identify best paths for project development.
  • Monitor development stage of projects to appropriately track collateral to the organization.
  • Work with development capital providers and internal development teams to close acquisitions.
  • Manage closing conditions and timing with third party developers.
  • Coordinate with development capital providers to satisfy funding conditions for development assets.
  • Research market conditions to determine ways to optimize asset and progress development.
  • Understand strategic opportunities for development assets including offtake, storage optimization, alternative revenue sources, and project sizing.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on policy initiatives to creatively assess and explore potential for new market development, including conducting market and industry research and analysis and engaging in stakeholder processes.

Must-Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience working in business development, project development, development strategy, or policy and government affairs in renewable energy.
  • Knowledge of energy related policy and the regulatory processes that shape market opportunities, both in organized and regulated state markets.
  • Expertise in interconnection process and strategy and negotiating offtake agreements with corporates, municipalities, and/or utilities.
  • Experience in project development process including but not limited to, siting, real estate review, zoning, interconnection, and permitting.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, make decisions, prioritize and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

  • Exposure to the renewable energy industry financing.
  • Real-estate related degree and/or certifications.
  • Exposure to project engineering and/or construction.

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
