Position Summary: This position functions as part of the Information Technology Services Department and is responsible for help desk support, including technical assistance and training to system users.

Responsibilities:

· Team member in providing excellent customer service and process efficiencies.

· Provide help desk support including installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repairing workstation hardware and software systems as well as password support.

· Assist with installation of workstation, peripherals and software on computer as determined by the user’s need, job duties and school policy.

· Backup and restore user’s work data during migrations to new equipment.

· Respond to user inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnose system problems.

· Assist with training in the use of equipment and software.

· Provide timely status updates and completion information to manager and user.

· Assist in the installation of network cabling and other network components.

· Maintain security of workstations by keeping virus protection updated and installing security patches.

· Oversee the inventory of all hardware and software.

· Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

· Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanor.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

· High level of interpersonal skills to handle confidential situations and documentation.

· Proficiency with computer software and high comfort level working with Windows software applications.

· Minimum of two years related experience and/or training.

· Associates degree preferred.

Working Relationships: The Desktop Support Specialist is a member of the Information Technology Services Department and reports to the Assistant Vice President for Technology and Facilities.

Work Schedule: Normal office hours expected Monday through Friday. Additional hours as needed for significant department or university events.
