Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: DOE – Full state employee benefits package, which includes 11 paid holidays, sick leave, compensatory time for work in excess of a 40 hour week, low cost downtown parking, PERSI retirement, medical/dental insurance, wellness program, 401k, deferred compensation program, and pre-tax flexible spending accounts for qualifying childcare and medical expenses. The office also pays the Idaho licensing fee for its attorneys and provides no-cost continuing education opportunities. Ability to partially telecommute is also available for this position. The office is a qualifying employer for purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF).

Example of Duties

The successful applicant will be assigned to the Appellate Unit in the Criminal Law Division of the Idaho Attorney General’s Office. Practice in the Appellate Unit offers intellectually stimulating and challenging work. Primary duties include researching, preparing briefs, and presenting oral arguments to the Supreme Court of Idaho and the Idaho Court of Appeals in criminal cases. Appellate attorneys may be asked to perform other tasks, including advising on a variety of legal issues, reviewing legislation, and serving on committees dealing with criminal law.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Idaho.
  • Excellent research, writing and word processing skills are a prerequisite.
  • Prior prosecutorial experience is highly preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for public service is essential.
