Job description
The Director of Buds and Blossoms is responsible for oversight of AACA’s Daycare Center.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of Buds and Blossoms Daycare Center
- Program standards: assure B&B meets EEC regulations; maintain positive working relationship with Licensing Officer; develop and maintain Mandarin immersion standard; develop and maintain Reggio Emilia influence throughout the program.
- Staff: Recruit, hire and supervise staff; create individual professional development plans (IPDP) for each teacher; provide ongoing training, including trainings mandated by EEC; build a strong leadership team and classroom teams; maintain staff records in keeping with EEC standards.
- Enrollment: Maintain enrollment at 92% or better; recruit through parent and internet referrals, annual benefit’s fairs at local institutions, and appropriate advertising as needed; schedule and provide tours that result in pre-registrations; plan and implement smooth intakes of new families and transitions between classrooms; maintain children’s records in keeping with EEC standards..
- Family engagement: Maximize opportunities for parents to be engaged in the center; plan and lead monthly parent meetings; build and coordinate an advisory committee that includes parents, AACA board members, senior management, community education experts and teachers; plan parent/classroom events at least 3 times a year.
- Fundraising: Work with parents to raise funds through events such as the Annual Fall Frolic; write grants when opportunities arise.
- Fiscal responsibility: build annual budget for B&B and work within it’s restraints; work with Director of Finance to do monthly billing; order weekly meals and supplies.
- Facility: Maintain equipment, furnishings and operating supplies; oversee work of cleaning company; utilize parent workdays for painting and other classroom upkeep.
- Actively participate in agency-wide activities.
- Participate in fundraising activities for agency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Must have experience working in child care center
- Knowledge of Reggio Emilia approach a plus
- Must have management and supervisory experience
- Must have a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Director I or II License
- Fluent in English and Mandarin a plus
- Creative, energetic and enthusiastic
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
