Working within an Agile framework, the role of the Data Visualisation & Automation Manager is to work with the rest of the CDAO organisation to produce data products focused on supporting the delivery of our business strategy goals.

This role will use the data to deliver value to the organisation across all aspects of the business, delivering a range of scalable data products to various business units to help solve complex business challenges and ultimately help Sainsburys to become more data centric.

Creating the right, most efficient solution first time is key as the demand from the business is greater than the resource available. We must ruthlessly look to rationalise non-value adding tasks, removing inefficiencies and maximising the return that we generate from our data products.

What you need to do

• Work with product owners in relevant squads to create an automation, reporting and visualisation backlog.
• Work with the product owner to understand where the biggest value-creating opportunities lie and then deliver both POC’s and productionised reporting capabilities that fulfil the requirements.
• Prioritise requirements and produce a roadmap of activities, with product owners, which will deliver in a timely, cost-effective and highly repeatable way for your stakeholders.
• Be a leader in the DVA team delivering centralised architecture and pushing the team’s quality on outstanding products.
• Develop innovative and engaging ways to interpret data, challenge the status quo and create a capability around data interpretation to make sure that we go beyond delivering the data.
• Grow and maintain strong and trusting business relationships with stakeholders presenting information in a credible manner.
• Grow the DVA team’s capability of delivering powerful and insightful visual outputs.
• Driving innovation on the central reporting platform
• Help drive the community practices for data visualisation, better design and delivery of the platform.
• Document and support the products that you create.

What you need to know

• How to create automated, compelling, insightful solutions to surface key trends and patterns to end stakeholders.
• A detailed understanding of the ‘art of the possible’ for automation, reporting and visualisation.
• A strong understanding of the tools and technologies that can support great reporting, automation and visualisation.
• An understanding of all aspects of the MicroStrategy platform is essential as this is our primary platform that we use.
• Coding background with an ability to pick up new languages quickly such as JavaScript and Python.
• Knowledge of database, data warehouse and Big Data technologies and how to leverage them.
• An explicit understanding of data and data structures that support the creation of automated reporting and products.
