Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Technology, or closely related field
Experience:
  • Enterprise account management, such as provisioning, deprovisioning and auditing
  • Utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) products, with Ellucian Banner preferred
  • Reading & reviewing IT focused procurement documentation such as contracts and licensing requirements.
  • Supporting cross functional teams \ business units.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
Knowledge of:
  • Common information security best practices.
  • Strong familiarity with common security regulations and compliance standards. including Payment Card Industry Data (PCI) Security Standard, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and other standards applicable to higher-education.
Communication:
  • Ability to work independently as a contributing team member and routinely update Director on results.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional units and translate between business & technical vernacular.
  • Ability to perform project planning, tracking, and prioritization and clearly communicate expectations and deadlines to stakeholders.
Misc/Other:
  • Ability to travel once or twice a year for education, professional development, or conferences.
  • Flexibility in work schedule; willingness to occasionally adjust work hours. No weekends except in emergencies; no on-call rotation.
  • This position is eligible for remote work but the selected candidate must live within a 1 hour commute of OU’s main campus as a periodic on-campus presence is required.

Desired Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree in Business, Administrative, or Technology, strong preference for degrees that include Management Information or Cybersecurity aspects.
Certification: Security compliance focused certifications, such as CISSP, CDPSE or equivalent hands on experience.
Deep understanding and/or hands on experience with Payment Card Industry Data (PCI) Security Standard, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and other standards applicable to higher-education.
Experience with common security related documentation such as NIST 800-171, Higher Education Cloud Vendor Assessment Toolkit (HECVAT), and SOC reports
Knowledge of Industry security standards for cloud hosting including, with emphasis on SaaS vetting.
Strong preference for candidates:
Experienced with Data Security best practices including governance (e.g. Data Stewards, Data Owners, etc) and implementation (e.g. role based access).
With hands-on experience reviewing security focused procurement documentation, such as contracts and bid responses.
With experience creating / maintaining security related documentation (e.g. instructions/ Knowledge Base Articles) for a wide range of audiences.
With Higher-Education experience; specifically roles that are service focused roles requiring strong written and oral communication.

Position Purpose
University Technology Services, the central IT organization of Oakland University, is seeking a Data Security Analyst focused on aligning information security to business processes. We are looking for a skilled enthusiast interested in joining our security team, reporting to the Information Security Officer.
Your work will include collaborating with cross functional business units to:
  • Ensure Data Security (e.g. roles, permissions, etc.) within our ERP and associated Data Warehouse
  • Coordinate efforts to aid the institution in achieving compliance initiatives such as Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
  • Facilitate cloud contract, Software as a Service (SaaS) reviews by acting as an initial reviewer and then the point person for collaboration between the business units, IT\Security, Legal, and purchasing to ensure efficient procurement.
  • Liaison with internal units and external vendors to facilitate procurement & scheduling compliance audits and other security related projects.
  • Assist in documenting, prioritizing, and tracking audit findings & remediation efforts.
  • Assist Information Security Officer in researching and disseminating emerging information security regulations and requirements.
  • Assist Information Security Officer in preparing and marketing Security Awareness Training materials and documentation.
