Data Analytics Analyst, Sr. (Atlanta or Birmingham)

Description

Purpose:

This position will be filled in the Data Analytics & Reporting team within Technology Services. Key responsibilities as a member of the team include detailed data engineering and integration, data analysis, data architecture and requirements mapping, Data Virtualization and big data design, development and implementation. This position also works closely with Data Architects within the organization to ensure that new analytics solutions align with the enterprise data management strategy. This includes identification of the true source of data, reducing data redundancy and focusing on increased integration of data across business units. This includes increasing data quality, compliance, and governance.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues that arise within Data platforms and analytics toolsets and the enterprise infrastructure supporting these solutions.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/Engineering or related degree preferred.
  • Experience with implementing BI/analytics solutions using the Microsoft BI/analytics toolset.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and innovative information technology organization.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge for designing, implementing and supporting data engineering and integration solutions (expertise of the tools listed below is highly preferred but not limited to)

  • Effective communication (verbal/written) and leadership skills to foster enterprise adoption of data engineering and analytics solutions within business units and other IT teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities.
  • Expertise in Integrating, Transforming, and Consolidating data from various structured and unstructured data systems into structures that are suitable for building analytics solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the data serving layer such as;designing star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, dimensional hierarchies, solution for temporal data, incremental loading, designing analytical and Metastores.
  • Implementation experience of physical and logical data storage structures such as compression, partitioning, sharding, different table geometries, data redundancy, distributions, data archiving, building logical folder structure, external tables, implementing file and folder structures for efficient querying and data pruning.
  • Understand the deployment and data management implications of working across diverse environments that span both cloud and on-premises.
  • Ability to build APIs for data access or landing data as output for further downstream consumption in the appropriate target data store.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and application of DevOps and DataOps principles to data pipelines.
  • SAS and Tableau knowledge a plus

  • Design, develop and support batch processing solutions by using Data Factory, Data Lake, Spark, Azure Synapse Pipelines, PolyBase, and Azure Databricks.
  • Design, implement and support a complex event-processing engine for analyzing and processing high volumes of fast streaming data from multiple sources simultaneously. (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Flink, Kinesis).
  • Develop, package and deliver new data engineering and integration solutions
  • Serve as a data engineering and integration subject matter expert
  • Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data engineering and integration solutions and delivery
  • Collaborate with peers; mentoring team members to enhance skills and abilities; providing leadership as required.
