Position Purpose: The Healthcare Data Analyst works with the Information Systems Manager and other staff to utilize healthcare databases to collect, compile and organize healthcare data to answer a wide range of questions. The position will require the ability to produce analyses needed to identify opportunities to improve operations, control healthcare costs and utilization, and maximize healthcare clinical and quality program outcomes.

Major Job Function:

  • Collect, compile and organize complex health care data including both medical data and financial data
  • Analyze data to assist management with decision making
  • Investigate data to find patterns and trends
  • Utilize various sources for data analyses
  • Develop reports to be used on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Communicate insights with stakeholders
  • Designs and produces timely and meaningful analysis and data interpretation regarding large healthcare datasets to help the organization understand and monitor performance, break down key drivers, and identify new opportunities
  • Utilizes software programs such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, Excel and/or other business intelligence tools to extract needed data. Helps write original code and/or modifies existing code, as needed, to execute projects to specifications, and assists in the development of these specifications.
  • Interprets data accurately and produces clear and comprehensive written analyses, dashboards, graphs, tables, etc. for various internal and external audiences.
  • Translate complex analysis into simple visualizations that can communicate key takeaways to leaders and stakeholders
  • Assists with development, implementation, and documentation of quality improvement processes to ensure that reported data is accurate and reliable.
  • Understand clinic system data sources, documents data collection processes with other teams, to transition data collection from one team to another and ensure data is clean and accurate.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service through timely, accurate, and supportable deliverables.
  • Ensures understanding of customer needs by proactively clarifying scope and requirements and keeping customers apprised of project status through effective communication.
  • Collaborate with end users (clinical or operational leaders) to understand the question being asked and determine the right methodology and assumptions that are consistent across the organization Interface with clinical partners and provider sites to engage on data questions, develop new analyses, and present results.
  • Achieves high-quality deliverables by assuring accuracy and thoroughness in executing projects.
  • Manages multiple projects by effectively prioritizing work and communicating workload issues to management.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and advanced understanding of technical specifications for all measures
  • Evaluates program effectiveness for complex improvement projects.
  • Provides ad hoc analytical and evaluation guidance to Quality Department for internal and external projects.
  • Contributes to and advances group knowledge about population health.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Mathematics, Statistics, Health Analytics, Health Care Administration, Healthcare Economics or a related field with strong emphasis in data analysis; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in reporting and analyzing quality improvement measures and/or population health approaches, with at least 1 year of experience evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and initiatives to improve performance on quality measures and/or population health, preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of analytic programming languages and data visualization tools, including SAS, SQL, Tableau, Excel and/or other business intelligence tools.
  • Able to work with minimal direction and flexibility when rapid or extensive changes are needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to make complex concepts easily understood
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to effectively work with diverse individuals and teams and to model respectful and collaborative behavior.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability with identifying opportunities and proposing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and produce easily understood and actionable reports and dashboards from complex data sets.
  • Experience with designing and executing analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and initiatives to improve quality.
  • Knowledge of clinic operations, electronic health systems, and other data sources.
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize assignments within multiple projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.78 - $46.33 per hour
