TITLE: Cytotechnologist CT(ASCP)

LOCATION: East of Columbus, Ohio

As a Cytotechnologist, you will prepare, examine, and diagnose gynecological and non-gynecological specimens for cytology evaluation. You will primarily evaluate pap smears and also process non-GYN specimens, assist on final needle aspirates, evaluate non-GYN specimens, register and accession pap smears, process and stain pap smears, and maintain staining equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Operate cytology equipment, process GYN specimens, prepare non-GYN specimens according to their characteristics, and assist on fine needle aspirates.
  • Keep accurate records and release and report test information via the laboratory information system.
  • Report QA statistics including workload, discrepancies, rescreening results, and five-year lookback.
  • Maintain knowledge of CPT codes for professional billing.
  • Provide assistance in the area of Cyto Processing.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies including CAP, HFAP, OSHA, and HIPPA.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • CT(ASCP) required; must be a graduate of an accredited Cytology program.
  • Trained in microscopic evaluation of gynecological (pap smears) and non-gynecological (body fluids) specimens.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Reports to the Clinical Lab Manager.
  • M - F (no weekends) day shift.
  • Start time varies between 7a and 8a.
  • Equipment: Thin Prep processors, Thin Prep imager, Leica stainer.
  • Will work directly with 3 Board Certified Cytopathologists and 1 other Cytotech.
  • Volume: 10,000 pap smears/year and 3,000 non-GYN/year.
  • Hourly rate between $30.27 - $41.66 with a $15,000 sign-on bonus.
