Customer Service Representative I

Job Overview

The primary responsibility of the Customer Service Representative I is to grow our business with existing customers by maximizing sales with existing accounts and growing strategic accounts by providing kick-ass customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Receive shipment tenders from customers and properly communicate (when to accept, reject or work on).

  • Enter loads into the system. Study ways to automate and/or streamline.

  • Schedule pickup and delivery appointments and enter them into the system.

  • Provide rates to customers.

  • Provide shipment updates to customers.

  • Effectively handle customer problems.

  • Handle accessorial charges.

  • Communicate shipment issues, including missed or late shipments to customers.

  • Assist customers with the claims process and ensure the claims administrator is informed.

  • Manage lane profitability.

  • Nurture, by routine communication with customers, for increased market share with new and lost lanes.

  • Communicate potential customers to sales (current shippers/consignees).

  • Keep Customer Scorecards.

  • Communicate lane opportunities to Carrier Representatives.

  • Find and approach offline/dormant customers.

  • Manage customer rate tables.

  • The secondary role is to provide backup carrier support.

  • Stay current on industry news and trends.
