We are actively looking a part-time employee for our Friday Harbor Summer Season; May thru September. Work schedule will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9 am – 4 pm. Pay range is $20/hour to $20/hour.

The Position:

We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent customer service skills to support operations at San Juan Transfer Station in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. This is a part time, seasonal position; May thru September. Work schedule will be Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9 am – 4 pm. We manage, process and load residential garbage/recycling as well as construction and demolition debris for recycling off island. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service and have demonstrated good team communication skills. You must be willing to work hard, be flexible and calmly respond to emergent situations and changing priorities throughout the day. This position requires a reliable, motivated individual with a great attitude and good attendance record. Excellent customer service is a must. Must be age 18 or older due to the nature of our industrial worksite characterized by onsite heavy equipment operation.

Work Schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9 am – 4 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assisting customers unloading their recycling and garbage when necessary
• Helping customers identify recyclable items
• Monitoring recycle area for misplaced materials
• Facilitating safe customer traffic flow
• Helping keep yard area clean and safe
• Picking up garbage around facility
• Lawn maintenance

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, bend, crawl, reach, climb and/or and stoop inspect incoming loads at the scale and assist customers unloading. Good vision, depth perception, hand, eye (and foot) coordination, along with quick reaction times, are essential functions for this position. May be required to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 35 pounds.

The Location:

We are located in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. The site is a fully operational, industrial transfer station which has frequent traffic, dust and noise.
