About the position:
- Support teachers with curriculum mapping, syllabus development and lesson planning.
- Provide instructional coaching as needed, including support for teachers with ASL bilingual strategies with the ASL Specialist.
- Co-lead ASL/English bilingual professional development opportunities with the ASL Specialist.
- Coordinate PD/PLC and clock hours for certificated staff.
- Monitor and maintain the WSD Curriculum and Assessment framework.
- Administer school-wide assessments.
- Manage student data systems.
- Coordinate curriculum adoption.
- Purchase and manage educational technology subscriptions and curriculum materials.
- Conduct academic 3 year evaluations.
- Facilitate IEP meetings.
- Provide limited substitute coverage as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in education of deaf and hard of hearing students or Master’s degree in Special Education.- Must be eligible to obtain state of Washington teacher certification in Special Education with endorsement in deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Fluency in American Sign Language and English and ability to effectively communicate with students, parents and professionals.
- Minimum of 5 years combined experience teaching deaf and hard of hearing students in both residential and mainstream educational environments.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Curriculum, instruction and assessment techniques and latest trends for deaf and hard of hearing students including students with assistive devices.
- Characteristics of quality deaf and hard of hearing programs.
- Knowledge of educational environments and the continuum of options available to support student learning.
- Current trends in educational methods for deaf and hard of hearing learners.
- Effective curriculum adoption processes and methodologies.
- IEP development consistent with curriculum goals and state of Washington Special Education regulations.
- Effective assessment techniques and instruments for deaf and hard of hearing students.
ABILITY TO:
- Adapt and ensure that training and technical assistance content and activities are available and appropriate to programs serving deaf and hard of hearing students.
- Document students progress on an ongoing basis.
- Collaborate and network with a variety of organizations and professionals.
- Provide and facilitate professional development.
- Complete high quality, accurate work in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.
- Ability to work collaborative in a positive manner with other professionals and parents.
- Experience developing, coordinating and providing in-service training for curriculum, assessment and IEP development.
- Experience designing and providing professional development and follow-up support for teachers of deaf and hard of hearing students.
The Curriculum & Assessment Coordinator must be to communicate fluently using American Sign Language and have proficient use of written English. This position is expected to provide staff and student direction in appropriate curriculum for Pre-school to graduation, facilitate state mandated assessment and other assessments needed to demonstrate student progress in core areas, and implement administrative directives. The coordinator is expected to complete all duties as assigned and maintain a schedule in accordance with the designated work day. This position is an overtime exempt position. Certificated Staff are responsible to maintain certification requirements as designated by OSPI.

Salary Information:
Certificated employees are paid in accordance with the Vancouver Public Schools Salary scale.
