The CSA Designer II position is a direct-hire position working for HGA at our office in Baton Rouge, LA.


CSA DESIGNER II POSITION SUMMARY


The Civil Designer performs a variety of civil drafting and design duties with minimal supervision. Civil Designer prepares drawings in accordance with the appropriate drafting standards. Prepares drawings from a conceptual layout to detailed finished product. Civil Designer requires a general knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices. Position requires experience in topographic surveys, site design, water and sewer systems, and roadway layout and design. Capable of engineering assignments from education and/or experience but does not have an engineering degree.


CSA DESIGNER II ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce neat, accurate, and legible construction drawings packages according to company procedures and drafting standards with minimal supervision.
  • Civil Designer work must be accurate, very thorough and must pay attention to detail.
  • Assumes responsibility for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs.
  • Capable of obtaining accurate field data
  • Civil Designer must interpret general design information and calculations.
  • Work with all disciplines and with minimal supervision.

CSA DESIGNER II EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical school or college is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in civil design and drafting with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Education may substitute for 2-3 years of work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of civil engineering design principles and practices.
  • Experience with a consulting engineering firm and completion of industrial projects is preferred.


CSA DESIGNER II SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Very knowledgeable in developing surface models and drawings using Civil 3D software.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to bring projects and tasks to successful completion through political sensitivity.
  • Ability to manage time and resources efficiently.
  • Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a variety of sources including team members, subcontractors, and other departments.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
  • Customer service skills an asset.
  • Capability to conduct research into project-related issues and products.
