Job Summary:
Responsible for review of accounts in collection
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions I
Audit all credit balance patient accounts to determine cause of credit balance and determine the correct resolution; must balance the account and prove the ending balance with detailed notes.
Requires ability to do math calculations.
Involves working with numbers, detail work and research when credit involves subrogation or coordination of benefits.
Research HCFA 1500 and HCFA 1450 to determine correct contract reimbursement using many PPO contracts.
Requires ability to communicate effectively with patients, employees and 3rd party payers.
Able to correspond via mail, telephone and email.
Working closely with all Business Office departments.
Review of GSB accounts.
Works Medicare quarterly credit balance report.
Schedule:
8 hr days - flex schedule available

Job Requirements
Education
  • Participates in mandatory in services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.

Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience working for a 3rd party payor or health care provider is preferred.
  • Six months previous HCFA 1500 and HCFA 1450 billing experience preferred.
  • ICD9 and CPT4 coding preferred.
  • Prior use of computer required.

License/Certifications
  • N/A

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Requires ability to communicate effectively with patients, employees, and third party payers.
  • Requires ability to perform math calculations.
  • Requires the ability to audit credit balance accounts to correct resolution and must balance the account and prove the ending balance with detailed notes.
  • Knowledge of DRG reimbursement and outpatient may include ASC grouper, ER, and outpatient reimbursement.
  • Ability to correspond via mail, telephone, and e-mail.
  • Requires the ability to type 30 wpm and operate general office machines.
  • Basic working knowledge of CMS.
