General:

Job Title: Crane Mechanic

Corporate Unit: Buckner Heavy Lift (BHL)

Department: BHL Service

Reports To: BHL Service Manager

Position in the Organization:

The Crane Mechanic reports to the BHL Service Manager and/or Assistant Service Manager. The Crane Mechanic is not a Supervisory role at BHL but can have a Supervisory role at job sites.

Position Summary:

The job of the Crane Mechanic is to repair and service cranes and similar BHL owned equipment in the BHL shops and in the field/job sites, as per direction from the BHL Service Manager. When necessary, due to technical difficulty or personnel availability, also perform maintenance on equipment at remote locations.

Supervisory & Organizational Responsibilities:

Crane Mechanic is not a Supervisory role within BHL. The Crane Mechanic is responsible to service and repair all equipment malfunctions in the field and at BHL locations in a timely fashion.

Primary Duties:

Crane Mechanic:

  • Is responsible for all coordinating and prioritizing job site repairs and maintenance thru the BHL Service Manager and/or Assistant Service Manager.
  • Performs field maintenance and repair activities, as required.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of equipment application and proper working function of all equipment
  • Reads, understands and follows advanced hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical diagrams
  • Provides guidance to employees regarding all safety regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by the BHL Service Manager and/or Assistant Service Manager.

Qualifications & Functional Responsibilities:

4 – 5 years experience in crane and heavy equipment maintenance and repairs

Must have thorough knowledge of diesel, hydraulic and electrical mechanical repairs

Must be able to understand and apply established procedures

Must be able to work with hand tools or power tools as required

Must be able to determine if repairs performed are adequate to bring equipment back to functioning properly

Must be able to speak, read and write English

Must have flexible working hours in the event of emergency call-out repairs

Knowledge of OSHA and BHL standards and safety regulations

Good organizational skills

Good communication skills

Experience working at wind farms and construction sites

Level of Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Specific training in Crane maintenance and repair preferred

Liebherr training preferred.

Work Environment (Inconvenience Factors):

Indoor and Outdoor work environment

Standing, Walking, Kneeling, Climbing, Reaching

Must be able to do Medium work- Lift/Push 50lbs

Must be able to work at height

Subject to hazards from working with and around heavy moving equipment

Occasionally required to work in narrow aisles / passageways

Must be able to respond to visual and audible instruction

Subject to working in areas requiring hard hats, safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes

Subject to exposure of grease and equipment fluids (oil, antifreeze, etc) on skin and clothes

Subject to working from a man lift or a man basket at extreme heights

Must be able to travel nationwide to service and repair cranes and similar equipment

Expectations:

  • Repair and maintain equipment according to BHL standards and manufacturers specifications.
  • Communicate with BHL office personnel, regarding scheduling and repairs.
  • Use work order and/or service appointment numbers for every job and complete work orders before returning them to the office.
  • Work according to BHL safety standards.
  • Get repairs and maintenance completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Teamwork throughout the whole BHL organization.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
