Reporting to the General Counsel/VP of Legal, the Paralegal will provide broad in-house legal support of corporate and field operations teammates through the exercise of professional skill and expertise. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to bring an existing skill set and to develop new skills to meet the needs of TCC and its growing legal team.

Over time, the successful candidate in this role will enjoy the opportunity to become responsible for significant legal functions by demonstrating excellence in time management, organization, attention to detail, follow up, and personal responsibility and engagement.

General Duties And Responsibilities

(This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive)

  • Assist General Counsel and other legal teammates in planning, organizing, coordinating and tracking programs and projects associated with various legal matters
  • Provide litigation support with an emphasis on employment, real estate, and personal injury claims
  • Provide transactional support with emphasis on contract management and emerging business issues
  • Provide legal operations support relating to legal reporting and spend management
  • Provide timely responses to requesting departments and assist the same as needed
  • Cross train in legal department intake, routing, and database entry for occasional backup
  • Cross train in property damage matters for occasional backup
  • Work with all departments in the company to ensure timely handling and completion of the company’s needs and activities
  • All other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications And Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of paralegal experience required
  • 2+ years of paralegal experience in a corporate environment preferred
  • Proficient in computer PC skills, including but not limited to MS Office, including the following: Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with Legal Acuity or other legal e-billing and matter management software is helpful
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong organization, human relations, and communication skills

Essential Functions

  • Minimal travel is expected
  • Ability to, on a consistent basis, (i) maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time; (ii) read and interpret documents and instructions; (iii) communicate effectively with outside counsel, vendors and other team members; (iv) perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction; (v) function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure; (vi) work within the appropriate level of independence; (vii) report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the business)

Working Conditions

  • This full-time role may be performed in office (Las Colinas Area, Irving, TX) or may be a hybrid position, generally 2 days in office and 3 days from a local DFW worksite. Part-time may be considered.
  • If full-time, the role is intended to be the Paralegal’s primary employment. Secondary employment or other endeavors that will conflict or interfere with primary employment are not permitted.
  • Must be able to move around the office up to 10% of the time to make copies, scan, etc.
  • Remains stationary approximately 90% of the time.
  • This position operates computers and other office productivity machines (e.g., copier, printer, etc.) on a regular basis.
  • Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with teammates.
  • This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen approximately 90% of the time.
