Summary: Leads Plant Engineering function and support for the comany's products facilities. Aligns with Operations Leaders implementing capital project activities to achieve optimal results in performance metrics. The engineering manager role leverages the engineering team expertise to provide manufacturing support with safety, quality, GMP’s, and cost metrics in consideration. The engineering manager role leads the effort in continuous improvement within the project engineering team to provide effective project development and scope to support business objectives. The position will be responsible for completing all job duties in a manner that supports all MFI safety, quality and environmental policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Manages an effective Corporate Engineering Team to support the company's manufacturing and support facilities which includes, selecting, hiring, and managing internal as well as external engineering resources.
  • Provides business and technical leadership necessary to ensure the team meets and/or exceed goals in critical manufacturing success areas (safety, quality, delivery, and cost).
  • Promotes the continuous improvement process (e.g. behaviors, attitude and culture) necessary to build a productive environment that sustains improvements in support of business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and management of engineering function to meet short and long-term company goals.
  • Identifies and supports opportunities to close potential gaps related to our systems and/or processes. Finds the root cause of problems through leadership and persistent focus on process improvement.
  • Prioritize, execute and monitor project work to deliver against safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.
  • Provide leadership that optimizes the talent contribution and development of multi-skilled teams.
  • Work closely with other departments to align strategies and tactics for optimizing the availability of production lines.
  • Fosters relationships across multiple company departments to solidify and improve information sharing, specifications and operational improvements to better develop the support within the organization
Qualifications:
  • B.S. (or higher) in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology or related field.
  • 7 years+ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Engineering/Production/Continuous Improvement within a similar industry/environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in capital management across multiple facilities; source equipment; packaging design and layout within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to read/understand/create Process Instrumentation Diagrams, facility drawings and machinery approval drawings.
  • SAP experience and knowledge of PLC’s (Allen Bradley) preferred.
  • Experience with CPG packaging technology and automation preferred.
  • Proven management experience of large, complex, multi-million dollar projects
  • Working knowledge of simplification/improvement methodologies.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well across all functional areas of the business.
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas:
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Ability to understand and apply general engineering principles
    • Capital development/management and execution
    • AutoCAD / Solid Works
    • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot site specific process
  • Must have strong analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Knowledgeable in building construction codes and of USDA, FDA regulations as they apply to the business.
