Job description

Are you passionate about the written word and enjoy the nuance and variety of editing for diverse formats? Then we should talk!

We are looking for a smart, creative copy editor to join our team.

You will use your inquisitive mindset to learn about our business and current topics, and then apply your impeccable grasp of the English language and understanding of digital media to copy edit compelling long- and short-form copy across all our channels. Your day could involve editing a client’s website copy for open enrollment, a blog article, an email, or a social media post. You will collaborate with your colleagues, including other copy editors and writers, designers, developers, and consultants. And you will typically work on a number of initiatives simultaneously.

Does this sound like you? Apply today, and be sure to include a cover letter that will make us sit up and take notice.

Key Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate is passionate about copy editing that is sharp, targeted, effective, and on brand for our clients.

  • Edit copy for multiple communication channels, including all things digital—web and landing pages, email, social media, as well as thought leadership and other collateral.
  • Collaborate with writers, consultants, designers, project managers, and developers to help them eloquently explain complex benefits topics to our clients’ audience both verbally and visually.
  • Project manage multiple demanding initiatives simultaneously.

We take great pride in our work and are dedicated to helping people make important, smart choices. We work collaboratively and supportively and are passionate about what we do. We also like to laugh and have fun—and find that all those things are interrelated.

The Copy Editor Senior Associate, Editorial will be an integral member of the practice and will be exposed to assignments that will enhance their editing skills, develop their understanding of the communications consulting environment, and, specifically, contribute to strategic employee communications products that delight our clients.

The Role:

§ Be an integral part of the editorial team, supporting the production and successful completion for a variety of deliverables on time and on budget

§ Contribute to many projects across several clients simultaneously, so the ability to juggle varying forms of work and projects is a necessity. Able to prioritize and summarize what is important within changing and often challenging scenarios and deliver on time, without inaccuracies or errors

§ Develop and maintain client editorial style guidelines

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or related discipline and four years of experience in an editorial role
  • Mac hardware skills and experience. Software requirements: Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Familiarity with Asana is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, with the ability to incorporate multiple rounds of edits with precision and accuracy
  • Solid knowledge of grammar, syntax, and punctuation
  • An understanding of proper and precise word usage and style
  • Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Well organized, with a workflow that takes into account a collaborative environment where project work sometimes is shared. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment, juggling multiple projects and priorities
