Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Coordinator of Building Operations for the Department of Clinical Sciences. This position will assist with inspection related needs, ensure biosecurity and sterility of facility with emphasis on utilizing HALO, coordinate work orders for repairs, partner with outside vendor that cleans the hospital for quality assurance.

Hours are typically 7:00am – 4:00pm. At times, this position will require hours outside of 7:00am – 4:00pm. This will be discussed during the interview process.

Essential Functions
  • Performs physical inspections of Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital (SATH) and Vaughn Large Animal Teaching Hospital (LATH) (about 400,000 square foot) monitoring appearance and functionality of the Physical Plant on a daily basis.
  • Coordinates work orders for the day to day operations of both hospitals and surrounding areas. This includes collegial collaborations with not only Facilities but other departments and individuals (Spay and Neuter Clinic, Dental Clinic, Multi-Purpose Lab, Research area, and requests by the Department of Clinical Sciences department head). Make sure the work orders are done in a timely manner (have less than a 48 hour turn around on 90 percent of all work orders).
  • Halo (Hydrogen Peroxide Mist Cleaning Machine) – Coordinate with supervisor to set schedules for disinfection with Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) ward section leaders for both Large and Small, maintain records, supplies, protocols, safety records for the use of the machine and daily handling/operation of the HALO.
  • Serves as floater, for both hospitals, for all quality assurance inspections to comply with all regulatory agencies (AVEM, AAHA, ASBVME, COE and AAALAC).
  • Assist cleaning services to ensure Bailey SATH and Vaughn LATH are cleaned according to contractual guidelines. Ensure that safety and appearance issues have been appropriately addressed. Schedules floor cleaning for night crew and verifies completion of assignments.
  • Serves as C.C.E.R.T team leader for Bailey SATH and Vaughn LATH to ensure safety of everyone in the building including clients and patients. Works with Fire Department and Police to ensure proper procedures are followed. Required to come in if alarms are going off or any damage is reported that is emergent.
  • Report to immediate Supervisor a minimum of a once weekly basis to review any unresolved issues and to add any needed improvements/tasks relating to VTH maintenance or inspection requirements.


May supervise employees but supervision is not the main focus of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field with no experience.

Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field plus 2 years experience. Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

Focus of Experience: Experience in overseeing various support personnel

Substitutions allowed for Education:
When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education.
