Summary of Responsibilities:
The Cook is responsible for implementing all food services responsibilities for Transformations at Mending Fences. The position will primarily ensure that all patients are provided fresh, healthy meals by keeping inventory of all food on-hand, ordering needs and food costs. The Cook will also be responsible for ensuring food is provided for all special events, such as holidays, BBQ’s and cooking classes. (not inclusive list)
Essential Duties:
  • Implements all food services responsibilities for Transformations at Mending Fending.
  • Implements food services for extracurricular events such as Alumni nights, cooking classes and family weekends.
  • Supports Head Cook with meal planning, recipe research, prepare shopping list for all household and client food items.
  • Supports Head Cook ordering and or shopping for food as needed, rotate unused food, date, and portion to adhere to first in/first out.
  • Implement menus Monday through Sunday, including substitute options for client dietary restrictions.
  • Perform walk through of kitchen and food prep areas and perform needed remedial actions (sweep/mop/clean any crumbs on floors or kitchen counters, put away food left out, take out trash, put dirty dishes into dishwasher, etc.). Wash dishes, pots and pans.
  • Ensure adequate supervision of clients
  • Document notable client interactions with staff and/or other clients.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the program and clients, including completion of walk-thrus.
  • Maintain program and client confidentiality, including former clients.
  • Elevate pertinent client and house concerns to the Head Cook in a timely manner.
  • Document and respond to critical incidents according to policy.
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety rules, guidelines & procedures.
Necessary Abilities:
  • Knowledge of a wide range of food preparation, meal planning and large scale catering.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and special dietary restrictions.
  • Knowledge of Client rights and treats all clients with dignity and respect in a consistent manner; adheres to federal confidentiality standards (HIPAA)
  • Operate a fax/copy machine and telephone
  • Operate a passenger van
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality to work
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Food Safety Certification (must be obtained within Introductory employment period)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum of one year experience working in a residential setting preferred
  • All employees may be required to work before, during and/or immediately after a natural or man-made disaster

Salary Range
$17 - $18 / Hour
