POSITION SUMMARY

This is a critical and high profile role offering a unique opportunity to roll-up your sleeves and develop a team and organizational habits to support the long-term growth of the company. The controller will be responsible for providing high-level support to the CFO and other members of the leadership team and managing all accounting and financial activities. The controller will manage the preparation of internal and external financial statements and oversee the monthly and annual accounting close process. The controller will also manage the technical accounting functions and ensure results are reported in accordance with US GAAP. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations of the business, a successful candidate will be comfortable evaluating accounting and internal control systems, driving process improvements, conducting value-added analytics and cross-functional collaboration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Oversee the daily workflow and manage the performance and development of the accounting department to support the company (AR/AP/billing/payroll/settlements/etc.).

· Direct the month-end close process, including GL and sub-ledger reconciliations, and partner with CFO to prepare and distribute monthly and annual financial statements.

· Collaborate with various departments to maintain accurate financial records and create system processes to document and develop appropriate, effective internal controls.

· Manage payroll and assist with benefit administration.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate reviews, audits, and resolution of accounting issues.

· Establish, implement and communicate the strategic direction of the company and collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company financial goals.

· In collaboration with IT and other operational leaders, help drive innovative process and system improvement projects to enhance operational efficiencies.

· Analyze cost-control measures for the various company departments.

· Develop and present periodic performance reports and metrics for the CEO, CFO and other members of the leadership team.

· Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided to manage talent development.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a “can do” environment.

· High level of integrity, trust and confidentiality.

· Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

· High degree of initiative and organization with keen attention to detail and time management.

· B.A. or B.S. degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

· Strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills.

· Strong technical US GAAP knowledge.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience

· Accounting experience, including financial statement preparation, consolidation and analysis (3+ years).

· Professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, or similar) preferred.

· Experience with AS/400, Innovative software is a plus, but not required.

Previous experience in transportation, supply chain or logistics industry a plus, but not required

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
