Location: Headquarters (Woodbridge, VA) preferred or Virtual considered

Schedule: Schedule to be determined to meet department needs. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager, the Content Writer will produce well-researched content for publication online and in print. The candidate will create, edit, and proofread a wide array of content including informative articles and blogs, creative promotional papers, business communications, and proposal content. The Content Writer will work to establish themselves as the go-to person for creative and technical writing and corporate storytelling, bringing creativity and innovation to the content we produce.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and proofread content to ensure voice, grammar, and style are on point and on brand.
  • Organize and prepare writing schedules to ensure drafts of content and finished projects are completed within deadlines.
  • Collaborate with marketing and other stakeholders on the response, development, submission, and tracking of engagement letters, government RFPs/RFIs, and commercial proposals.
  • Improve proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, boilerplates, and creating a content database.
  • Collaborate with marketing and subject matter experts to create, research, edit, and proofread various print and digital media materials including:
    • Correspondence/letters
    • Marketing materials including CVs, bios, case studies, website content, cutsheets for services and industries, etc.
    • Articles, stories, editorials, press releases, news alerts, blogs, etc.
    • Standard/sensitive email communications for management and HR
  • Assist with the development of PowerPoint presentations and speech content.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders on the preparation and submission of award nominations and call for papers.
  • Create and maintain style guidelines across all media.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong writer with impeccable grasp of the English language and excellent proofreading skills (e.g., grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax errors), as well as the ability to write clearly and succinctly.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, open to feedback with excellent client service and follow-through skills
  • Comfortable working in both an office-based and virtual environments, with the ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in driving projects to successful completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients, colleagues, and management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite 365; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with digital media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Analytics, and using SEO meta descriptions and strategies in writing to maximize the online visibility of a website in search results a plus!

Education/Certifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in English, Business, Communications, Media & Journalism, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years writing experience, ideally in a professional services environment (i.e., accounting, law, IT, engineering, etc.).
  • Portfolio demonstrating writing ability/website content/published articles
  • Experience with graphics, desktop publishing or related field is a plus!
