Role

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Content Developer creates written and multimedia content for staff training, marketing, and customer education.

What kind of projects will you do?

  • Video Projects including training and promotions
  • Website content
  • Organization and formatting of training materials
  • E-mail newsletter creation and delivery
  • Social media campaigns
  • Customer database maintenance
  • Visit the careers section of our website to see some of the types of videos and website content that we create.
What talent and skill level are required?

  • You should have familiarity with creating content, preferably in a business environment, in a variety of forms such as written, visual and multimedia.
  • You should have good writing skills and attention to detail.
  • ‘High-end’ ability or experience is not required but a commitment to a good, finished product is. Be open to feedback to deliver a final product that keeps in line with current standards.
  • Video production experience is beneficial but not necessary. You would be required to learn how to effectively shoot and edit video.

How much insurance knowledge is required?

  • Insurance knowledge is not required. Most content that you produce will come from knowledge sources that already exist.
  • As you progress, you will begin to learn terms and concepts related to insurance and how it’s sold that will clarify how to effectively communicate in this industry.
What is a typical workflow of new projects you would work on?

  • The marketing team will meet to discuss a new project or initiative
  • We will establish the purpose and goals
  • We will brainstorm ways to accomplish it
  • You as the Content Developer will produce content to fulfill the needs specified
  • The Marketing Manager will work with you to bring the project to completion and publication
Will there be other job responsibilities besides projects?

  • There will likely be a variety of projects you will work on, that will change and grow. Most of this work will be related to communications and organization of content, however some may relate to general office work that occurs in a marketing department.
  • One area that you may be asked to assist is the maintenance of our sales prospect database. The database contains thousands of prospects that sometimes require the checking of contact information, website address, and that the business still exists.
Education

  • High School graduate, college degree preferred.
  • A degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or English is a plus.
  • Prior marketing or communications experience preferred, but not required.

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
