Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Consultant Pharmacist:
- Review new admission regimens to comply with facility policies and the appropriateness and effectiveness of medication regimens.
- &Apply specialized knowledge of the scientific and clinical use of medications; including medication action, dosing, adverse effects, and drug interactions.
- Active role in the development and implementation of protocols, antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and appropriate drug utilization.
- Monitor medication administration / safety through performance indicator reviews and data presentations.
- Provide education to the nursing staff through in-services and education material.
- Educate healthcare team on updated policies and procedures, medication safety initiatives and drug shortages.
- Interdisciplinary relationships: Strives to develop a good working relationship with the medical and nursing staff in addition to other multidisciplinary departments by actively seeking out opportunities to improve patient care.
- The practitioner routinely attends antibiotic stewardship meetings, Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee, Medication Safety committee and Quality Assurance meetings.
- Detail-oriented
- Able to manage their own schedule
- Takes accountability for their work product
- Flexible in work schedule
- Experience in Microsoft Excel
- Meditech Expanse electronic health record
- Active CCP
