    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Provide safety instruction to prevent classroom/job related accidents.
    • Set and maintain standards for student behavior that establishes a positive learning environment.
    • Teach construction to the industry standard both in the classroom and in off campus projects.
    • Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty that provide content in a logical and sequential manner.
    • Model enthusiasm for construction and demonstrate current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy.
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
    • Assess students on a regular basis and provide feedback to enable them and their parents to monitor their progress.
    • Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities.
    • Prepare students academically for district, state, and federal testing as well as Technical Skills Assessment
    • Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential.
    • Provide effective leadership and guidance as a CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) advisor.
    • Establish and maintain industry and post-secondary connections to promote/encourage students’ participation in continuing education opportunities.
    • Help create an Advisory Committee and hold regular meetings to improve the Construction Pathway.
    • Encourage/provide experiences to students in the program for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills attainment, workforce readiness preparation, and college career-readiness.
    • Help develop job shadow and intern opportunities for students.
    • Identify, select, and purchase equipment and supplies necessary to support classroom instruction within budget constraints.
    • Meet the reporting requirements of the Nampa School District and the Idaho Career and Technical Education Division.
    • Implement CTE and Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments.
    • Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with special education teachers, as required.
    • Complete IPSI instruction and attend workshops and conference that build professional capacity

    • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules.
    • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
    • Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : None

    EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE:
    • Meet the qualifications for an Occupational Specialist Certificate endorsement in Construction Trades Technology
    • If qualified for a Limited Occupational Specialist Certificate, complete certification within three years as required by Idaho CTE.
    • Five years’ work experience within the industry, preferred.

    • Able to apply a knowledge of current building codes as adopted by the City of Nampa or Canyon County
    • Able to work under pressures and deadlines
    • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
    • Understanding of curriculum and methods of instruction
    • Experience in test evaluation and measurements of achievement
    • Track record of success with diverse children, including those with special needs
    • Knowledge and proven ability in positive behavior management
    • Ability to work well with parents and community members
    • Ability to work effectively as a team member
    • Willingness to go above and beyond
    • Skilled in the use of internet, email, Microsoft Office, and other pertinent educational software systems (attendance, gradebook, grade reporting, etc.)

    PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS: Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding instructional practice and discipline.

    PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY SKILLS: Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary; organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frame.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to conduct basic math functions and manipulate formulas in spreadsheets as needed.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit; walk and stand and reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift and carry up to 90 pounds.
