POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for Construction site activities for Hydro Modernization Outages/Projects at Martin Hydro plant. This includes responsibility for site construction activities associated with contracting, procurement, installation, start up, and maintaining appropriate site project controls throughout the project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the site scope, budget, constructability plan, and schedule as necessary to complete the project while meeting project goals.

This position will have direct responsibility and oversight for the site construction activities, contract management, cost management, and contractor management. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a team for the successful completion of the outage/project.

The work location for this position will be Martin Dam, and as we move forward with Modernization, movement to other sites will be required (Lay, Jordan, Mitchell, Bouldin, Neely Henry, and other sites). This position will be filled as a Site Construction Lead – Level 6 and will report to the SCS Hydro Construction Manager.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• Associates (2-year) or Bachelors (4-year) degree preferred, but not required.

Experience:

• Experience required in managing projects as related to generation outages, construction, and startup
• Plant outage management experience
• Ability to manage outside contractor resources
• Leadership role directing activities of direct reports or team
• Power plant operation or prior assignments within a power plant is a plus
• Experience with managing project scope, budgets, and schedules
• Experience with performance management
• Resolution of issues relative to contractors and contract issues
• Assessing and mitigating risk on a continuous basis
• Must be alert for changing conditions on the project site and effectively and efficiently manage these changes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge required of construction and power plant safety and general construction processes
• Must possess strong project management and organizational skills
• Must possess the ability to build strong working relationships with internal SCS departments, APC plant management, and other project interfaces
• Must have the ability to lead a strong, diverse team
• Must possess the skills to balance customer satisfaction priorities with those deriving from project and compliance strategy restraints
• Ability to coordinate outside resources as required and integrate them into Southern Company processes
• Have the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and effectively prioritize
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required
• Must be flexible, adapting easily to changing priorities Knowledge of the Southern Company
• Generation Project Delivery Process (PDP) is preferred, but not required

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Travel throughout the Southern Company territory will be required.
