What you will be doing:

• Observe construction on a variety of Civil, Transportation, and Municipal infrastructure projects
• Interpreting drawings for the contractor when there is a question concerning what the Engineer intended.
• Verify compliance with approved plans and specifications, documenting the day-to-day field activities, material sampling and testing, and measuring of quantities
• Conducting independent field engineering work with little or no supervision on projects covered by standard and complete plans, specifications, or instructions.
• Prepare for and conduct preconstruction, progress, and conflict resolution meetings, prepare change orders, and effectively interact and communicate with clients, contractors, and other SEH project managers/personnel
• Arranging for materials testing on concrete, asphalt, gravel, compaction, etc. for conformance to standards or to determine reasons for failure.
• Knowing when to contact the Project Manager concerning problems or deviations from design or materials.
• Coordinating required construction surveys with the survey coordinator.
• Meeting and discussions with concerned property owners the affects that the new construction has on them.
• Practicing good human relations, working well with others, being courteous and helpful to the general public as well as SEH clients.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to travel distances on a daily basis; walk and climb over rough, slick or otherwise difficult terrain associated with all types of construction sites or other designated work zones; and work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds (concrete cylinders or similar items) regularly.
• Must be able to distinguish colors on a computer screen.
• Must be able to run blueline print and copy machines.
• This position requires an MVR records check verifying that you possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets the requirements of SEH’s Driving Program.
• Must be able to provide travel to job sites
• Ability to achieve and maintain certifications required by SEH and/or clients in such areas as Math, Plan Review, Erosion Control, Surveying, etc., as required.
