Job description

Primary Purpose

Works with pipeline contractor estimators to determine cost of construction work on transmission line hydro-test and replacement projects. Completes pipeline cost estimates in a timely manner. Estimates labor hours, material costs for engineering and construction tasks on large gas projects. Confirms whether large change orders require new cost estimates. Provides estimating and pricing scenarios for management. Helps to maintain unit cost data.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with Project Managers and Engineers in determining parameters to estimate labor hours and material costs for engineering and construction tasks on large gas projects. May use Montecarlo or other contingency approach.
• Provides estimating and pricing scenarios for management
• Maintains unit cost data
• Evaluates the impact of project problems and updates cost components and productivity factors
• Interfaces with Project Management and team members to explain estimates and techniques used to derive those estimates
• Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Education

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience

• Requires six years of experience in cost estimating experience on large-scale construction projects.
• Requires at least two years of experience with cost analysis and/or project scheduling for pipeline and construction projects.
• Experience in managing aspects of, and field experience with, large natural gas projects required (and transmission line work is preferred) Preferred
• Experience with estimating labor hours and material costs for engineering and construction tasks on large gas projects Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have good verbal and written communications skills, and a desire to work with details
• Positive customer service orientation and strong interpersonal skills are required, demonstrating a consistent commitment and ability to work with diverse work groups and individuals
• Capable of presenting project estimates and alternative scenarios to management and to make recommendations on strategies to resolve project issues is required

Licenses and Certifications

• AACE certification credentials, Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Certified Estimating Professional (CEP). Preferred
