Summary: The Construction Accountant will maintain day-to-day accounting records for the company and assist the staff accountant with reporting when applicable.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Effectively manage the oversight of daily and weekly AR, AP, Invoicing, job costing, WIP (Work in Progress), and reconciling.
  • Accurately process reconciliations for payroll, Chase Bank, and BB&T Bank.
  • Job Cost Accounting processing.
  • AP & AR reconciliations daily or weekly register checks into positive pay.
  • Maintain work-in-progress schedule – T&M and fixed contracts
  • Create and maintain monthly obligation summary, pay monthly obligations
  • Create new jobs and accounts in QuickBooks and accurately code them.
  • Create checks for payments.
  • Apply for and fill out credit applications.
  • Process Invoicing accurately and manage invoicing processed by the bookkeeper.
  • Produce financial reports, analyses, and special projects.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must have experience with cost accounting and project accounting for construction companies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.
  • Ability to use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data.
  • Ability to operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • CPA Certification is a plus.
  • At least five years of Accounting experience is preferred.
