Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Computer Lab Specialist provides job search assistance, information on Goodwill’s Programs, and community referrals to clients in the Job Help Center Computer Lab. The Computer Lab Specialist assists clients in gaining the necessary tools and skills to become more marketable in their job search. Performs other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees client’s computer use and ensures proper usage of computers and facilities.
  • Informs clients about intake process, computer lab usage, and community resources.
  • Provides information to clients on Goodwill application procedure and assists clients with submitting Goodwill applications.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records by entering client services into computer database in a timely matter.
  • Maintains communication with Goodwill and Workforce Advancement Staff relating to client contact.
  • Participate in available staff development courses designed to enhance professional and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates ethics and complies with Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Ensure computer lab area looks presentable at all times.
  • Assists Intake Team by making copies of eligibility documents, screening and intake forms, and flyers for outreach events.
  • Assists clients in job related activities including resume development and basic online job search (i.e., applications and email).
  • Ability to intervene effectively and ethically in crisis situations, developing applicable interventions and follow-up plans to thoroughly address immediate and future needs while maintaining safety.
  • Provides phone and/or front desk support to Administrative Assistants, as needed.
  • Demonstrates ethics and complies with Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Meets Mandatory Yearly Training Hours requirement for this position and coordinate staff activities to assure sales and production goals and objectives are being met.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position has supervisory responsibilities over the staff assigned to the Outlet.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Windows O.S., and other technological applications.
  • Must possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those Goodwill serves and employs.
  • Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organization.
  • Must demonstrate a maturity of practice using the 7 pillars and principals of servant leadership
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced work environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working with clients in employment counseling, placement, and human services. Three or more years of direct related experience can substitute for the two-year degree.
  • Knowledge of using a multi-line phone system, computer, fax, or scan machine.
  • Experience in de-escalation techniques and high-quality customer service.
  • Experience with Adult Learners.
