TITLE: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Supervisor

DUTIES: Lead program related CFD activities with hands-on CFD work and setting the pace for the rest of the team in executing all necessary CFD simulations for the program. Maintain and execute lead CFD model and ensure all variants are consistent and comparable. Initiate CFD activity for new programs proactively by understanding program series card and timing; establish a CFD work plan (scope and timing) for each step gate, consistent with outlined CFD deliverables for that gate; and initiate and coordinate CAD data downloads, CAD checks and mesh generation tasks with the extended team. Conduct weekly coordination meetings with CFD team of respective programs including extended teams in India and Mexico to ensure progress is being made on all fronts; elevate and resolve any roadblocks that are holding up CFD simulations including CAD issues, boundary conditions, test data, 1D data etc.; and coordinate meshing tasks across all disciplines and ensure reuse of meshed models for as many CFD models as possible. Review all CFD reports to maintain quality control prior to delivering them to VSR for final release. Ensure results are consistent across multiple powertrains and with previously published data as well as exit vehicle status. Synchronize results publication across variants to avoid inconsistencies and report retraction; ensure reports contain clear conclusions along with design recommendations to solve design issues identified through simulation; and manage simulation requests to best fit into normal step assessment deliverables. Ensure simulation requests are value added by fully understanding how the results will be used and communicate that to assigned CFD engineers; maintain quality control of CFD models and ensure CoC recommendations are followed by all team members by spot checking models; and bring any lessons learned on a regular basis to CoC leads to ensure they are addressed and resolved promptly. Maintain correlation data for all programs; work closely with SIR and testing engineers to trouble shoot correlation issues and bring them to closure; review CFD models of other engineers to maintain quality control; and contribute and support PLM evaluations for assigned engineers.
