Summary/Objective:
The trainer is responsible for ensuring all new and current employees have received all training initiatives required by Beacon, DODD, or required by State and Federal Licensing. It is expected that trainers will track, monitor, and follow up on a consistent basis as new Associates work in the homes with the goal of reducing turnover and mentoring leadership to increase employee satisfaction.

General requirements:

  • Responsible for implementing and documenting training across the agency to ensure compliance. Collaborate with Director of Operations, Compliance Director and HR Department to develop initial and annual training schedule to ensure training quality and quantity standards are met and align with Beacon MRCS-Ohio.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for employees, individuals & colleagues from culturally diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Monitor, facilitate and record training including new hire, recertification and on-going coaching and training for continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist in compliance audits of employee certifications and homes of persons supported on a regular basis.
  • Remain current on all company policies and procedures, DODD training practices and internal compliance to provide the most up to date education with the upmost professionalism to new hires and existing employees.

Prepare Materials and Conduct All Operations Trainings:

  • Collaborate with HR Manager, Recruiter and Compliance Director on all new hire packet materials, training documents and re-training materials. Seek and implement innovative techniques to improve training experience and retention of knowledge.
  • Create sign-in sheets, informational documents, new training resources and in-service materials for any and all trainings for all agency employees.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and training classes weekly and as needed. Assist in onboarding procedure, collection of documents and complete all required new hire trainings, including but not limited to:
  • Training of employee systems (BrittCo, Paychex, ADP, Clarity, Docebo, etc.)
  • Provide Initial Training for Direct Support Provider employees per company and Ohio DODD requirements: Overview of Serving People with Developmental Disabilities, Roles & Responsibilities in Providing Services & Consumer Finance, Assessment, Planning, and Implementing the ISP, Rights of People with Developmental Disabilities and Restrictive Measures, Person-Centered Services, Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care & Empathy Based Care, Protecting Health and Welfare of People with Developmental Disabilities, MUI/UI Policies & Training & Universal Precautions, Community Integration & Cultural Competency
  • Beacon MRCS-Ohio topics including but not limited to HIPAA, Harassment, Good Communication, Dress Code, Ethics, Time Management, Teamwork & Safety
  • Conduct weekly CPR/First Aid classes, ensuring all new and existing employees hold a current certification as required by DODD.
  • Conduct biweekly recertification classes to meet company and DODD requirements on annual refreshers / recertifications.

Coordination of Medication Administration Trainings:

  • Coordinate with company nurses, contracted nurse(s) and third-party providers to schedule regular and as needed Medication Administration classes for all employees.
  • Coordinate with Director of Operations and Program Specialists to understand needs of agency in terms of Medication Administration
  • Coordinate with employees with sufficient notice to ensure attendance of all initial and recertification Medication Administration (Category 1,2 and 3) classes.
  • Upon completion of the classes, collect all certifications for HR files and update the relevant expiration dates in tracking database.

Compliance Assistance:

  • Assist in regular compliance audits of sites and report findings accurately and timely to the Compliance Director.
  • Assist Compliance Director in tracking Incident Reports (IR) and monitoring of trends.
  • Assist in creating follow-up resources and providing as needed training and/or retraining of employees in response to findings during audits, IR tracking or any other findings.

Employee Training & Tracking Oversight:

  • Collect all certificates of completion of any required Trainings for all employees.
  • Enter employee certifications into tracking database upon hire and maintain dates of certification expirations for all existing employees. Collaborate with Operations and HR Manager to manage employee status.
  • Ensure all certifications are secured in employee HR files and coordinate with HR Manager to supply employees with copies of certificates upon request.
  • Monitor expirations of certifications and schedule employees with sufficient notice for any re-certification classes so as to maintain compliance with DODD and Beacon policy.
  • Communicate with HR Manager, Director of Operations and Compliance Director for any employees who do not maintain their certifications.

Required Education and Experience:

· 3-5 years of training experience, specifically training and new employee orientation, or any similar combination of education and experience.

· Hold all necessary certifications.

· A background in mental health or healthcare is a plus.

· Strong computer skills utilizing various software programs and applications.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to create professional employee communication materials.

· Capable of working well with all levels of the organization.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the field.

Work Environment:

The majority of the job duties will be performed in an office setting. However, some work may be performed at home-like setting or community facilities with the potential of exposure to infections disease. Universal precautions are required to minimize the risk of infections. Work sites may include locations that are not barrier-free. Duties are performed in an environment where the potential for physical aggression from the persons supported exists. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smart phones.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours are typically Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm though work hours may vary due to training needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

Travel may be required for training specific at specific sites and to perform compliance audits as needed.
