~ Per Diem / As Needed Position ~
Maine Medical Center has an immediate need for Companion Telesitters to join our care team. Our Companion Telesitter team works onsite in Portland.
Position Summary
The Companion Telesitter under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, uses the remote visual monitoring system to observe the patients and provide supervision to 10-12 patients at a time for a number of safety related reasons. The first line of action will be to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in any at risk behaviors. Next will be to summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Monitor staff will be knowledgeable and abide by patient and institutional confidentiality. The Companion Telesitter will maintain an orderly monitoring station, document events and any changes to observation expectations within the monitoring system.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Requires ability to read, write, and complete an institutional training program.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: N/A
- Knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and organizational structure of the unit, the Department of Patient Care Services, and Maine Medical Center.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms.
- Requires the interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain continuous relationships with patients, visitors, and other MMC employees.
- Requires excellent communication skills.
- Requires the ability to meet the physical functional demands of the position
- Requires the ability to maintain sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Participates in continuing education and competencies relative to role as defined.
