Organizational Objective / Goal
To provide parking enforcement and support services for the University of Mary Washington as part of the Division of Business Services and Office of Parking Management

General Description of Position
Aid and direct the campus community and visitors regarding parking services.
Enforce University’s parking regulations, issuing citations as needed.
Place signage, including reserved and temporary parking signs.
Accurately register vehicles and issue parking permits
Perform general office and other duties as assigned.
Familiarize students on UMW policies/regulations concerning the operation of UMW/state owned vans. This will include behind the wheel familiarization.

Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform their work
Ability to:
  • Consistently provide exemplary customer service under sometimes difficult circumstances
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general working knowledge of tablet style devices.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts as scheduled between the hours of 7AM-7PM Mon-Fri; occasional weekend work hours may be required.
  • Ability to communicate with the general public in a respectful and effective manner
  • Ability to place temporary signage
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license

Preferred KSA's / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform the work
Ability to analyze needs and implement solutions for various requests for reserved and temporary parking.
Knowledge of, or the ability to obtain such knowledge of, University parking regulations and City of Fredericksburg parking ordinances.
Ability to generate reports and monitor key performance indicators within the parking operation.

Required Education
High School or equivalent training and experience

Required Experience
Some related job experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.


Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Experience
Some prior work experience in customer service or parking management, preferably in a higher education setting.

Required Licensure
Possession of a valid driver’s license, with an acceptable driving record.
