Job description

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), a multi-discipline architecture, planning, landscape architecture, engineering and environmental services firm, has an opening for a Community Planner position in Georgia, to be based in the Augusta office.

Community Planning

Recognizing the importance of making all of the right connections and adding value to community projects, GMC Community Planning – together with Landscape Architecture, Architecture and Engineering – work to build cohesive communities and great spaces to live, work and play. These exceptional areas result from the collaboration of planning and design professionals working with the public and private sectors, cities and counties, developers and business interests, not-for profit organizations, as well as state and federal representatives.

GMC strives to achieve creative solutions and cost-effective results for community and town master planning and design, neighborhood and town center revitalization, community facility planning and design, greenspace and park planning, complete street planning and design, corridor planning, campus planning, mixed-use and sustainable communities, and economic development. Our expertise includes zoning and land development regulations, design guidelines, as well as implementation guidance through grant applications and identifying public-private financing required to achieve comprehensive results.

At the heart of community planning is the community. Public engagement, stakeholder committees, elected and appointed officials and staff all have important roles and a wealth of information to contribute to the planning process. GMC’s public involvement efforts incorporate a diverse approach that includes a combination of traditional meetings, workshops and charrettes as well as innovative, technology-based techniques to encourage even greater levels of participation.

As a key member of an active, enthusiastic and growing planning practice, with an impactful role in a variety of projects including:
