Job Title: Camp Community Liaison

Reports to: Camp Coordinator

Direct Reports: None

Status: Part-time; Non-Exempt

Hourly Range: $18.00 - $19.00

Schedule: 20-25 hours/week, shifts may vary per location

Program hours of operation: 8:00AM – 5:00PM (varies per location)

Locations: LAUSD (SFV, South LA, South Gate, Huntington Park, West LA/Westwood), Garvey
Elementary School District (Rosemead/San Gabriel/Monterey Park), Equitas Academy Charters
(Pico-Union), Green Dot Public Schools (LA), and other districts.

Program Information:
Woodcraft Rangers Day Camp programs provide campers with a full day camp experience that includes exciting club activities from our curriculum library mixed in with camp traditions that have been around for 100 years! Camp staff can choose to work in Day Camps, Sleepaway Camp, or both!

Position Information:
Camp Community Liaisons support the Day Camp programs by developing positive relationships with program participants, their families, and the community, with the intent of providing meaningful partnerships.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Ensure students are always in a safe environment (physical and emotional). Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity, for all program participants, staff, and families.
  • In the event that COVID-19 protocols are in place, the Community Liaison will be responsible for ensure anyone who enters the program adheres to the guidelines and protocols, including supporting daily wellness screening, social distancing guidelines, PPE, etc…
  • Support camp leaders and camp coordinators with sign-in/out procedures and any program related parent communication during sign-out. Ensure all information on attendance rosters are accurate and complete daily.
  • Monitors participant attendance and engagement to ensure participants are present and actively engaged in program activities.
  • Organize and maintain participant registration forms, site information binder, site directory board and ensure staff always have access to necessary documents.
  • Assist camp coordinator with collecting and organizing information pertaining to cycle reports and other necessary reports.
  • Assist team with site-based events.
  • Serves as a substitute or fills in for a club if a camp leader or other team member needs a break or a lunch.
  • Build positive relationships with program participants, colleagues, and all stakeholders.
  • Complies with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols, including, up to date on all trainings and required certifications.
  • May be required to attend off site field trips.
  • Participate in staff development trainings, as required, approximately 15 hours spread out over multiple weekends/intersessional days throughout the spring.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • FBI & DOJ Livescan clearance
  • TB Test clearance
  • First Aid & CPR certification (provided by WR)
  • 6 months experience supervising a group of children in a school or recreational setting OR

6 units in child development.

  • Woodcraft Rangers will require proof of vaccination for ALL employees providing any in- person work with staff or clients.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and move around a large facility/space. The employee is required to speak, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
