Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Coordinator Community Advocacy focuses on both internal and external audiences with the goals of building trust with diverse community members, facilitating projects and programs to provide outreach and engage underserved populations, working with cross-functional teams to enhance the pipeline of future employees in the healthcare field, making meaningful connections with thought leaders, supporting patient relations efforts with a focus on diverse populations, and supporting employee engagement initiatives.
Essential Job Functions
Works closely with Bon Secours Mercy Health Diversity and Inclusion leaders to cascade and coordinate system-wide initiatives locally.
Develops strategies to engage community members and earn the trust of healthcare providers; develops methods to measure success.
Works collaboratively with various departments, including Human Resources, Community Relations, Community Health, Foundation, and Mission to implement initiatives and track results of outreach.
Works with various units and departments to analyze patient relations data and collaborates with units to support a hospital environment inclusive of all patients.
Partners with senior leaders and organizational representatives across Mercy Health Lima to think critically about complex issues.
Provides oversight and guidance to pipeline programs which collectively serve underrepresented minorities from secondary school through college and university training.
Works closely with community organizations to focus on impacting key health measures as determined by Bon Secours Mercy Health, the Community Health Improvement Plan, or specific departments that see racial disparities among patients.

Bachelors, Health Care Administration/Communications/Marketing/Psychology/Social Work/English/related field (required)

4 years' experience in a community outreach position (required)
Experience working for a large, complex organization (preferred)
