Job description
As a Community Health Care Support Worker, you will support the delivery of nursing care to clients within a clinical setting and/or home environment, as part of a team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

This is a permanent post

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker within in Builth Wells Community Nursing service based at Glan Irfon. The post holder would be based with and work under the supervision/ guidance of Builth Wells and Rhayader District Nurse team.

We welcome somebody who is caring, sympathetic and able to learn new skills and provide excellent communication and an attitude that ensures the highest standard of care for our patients. The ability to follow policies and procedures as necessary and is NVQ Level 3 qualified or equivalent in healthcare.

This will also include some administration duties. It is essential to have good ICT and communication skills for this role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria• Can demonstrate clear transferable skills valid to the health care setting equivalent to NVQ / QCF level 3

Desirable criteria• ECDL
  • Formal qualification (not necessarily in health care setting)
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria• Can verbalise a caring attitude
  • Clear communication skills both oral and written
  • Note patient progress in the nursing care plans
  • Participation in meetings
  • Participation within the team in care monitoring, audit and evaluation fundamentals of care
  • Able to undertake and accurately chart simple observations: • Temperature • Pulse • Respiration • Blood pressure • Blood glucose monitoring • Fluid input/output monitoring • Bowel motions • Dietary intake
  • Able to take patient samples: • Urine • Faeces • Blood and MRSA swabs
Desirable criteria• Ability to speak Welsh

Essential criteria• Ability to undertake work during unsocial hours
