Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision of the Communications and Media Relations Manager, assists in the planning, development and implementation of communications and media relations functions for the DeKalb County Board of Health’s programs and services. Develops informational publications and presentations. In the absence of, or at the designation of the Communications and Media Relations Manager and/or the District Health Director, this position will serve as the Public Information Officer for the agency.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of communications or related experience OR Four years of communications or related experience OR One year of experience required at the lower-level Communications Spec 1 (GSP040) or position equivalent.

Additional Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with print or broadcast news experience or previous communications and media relations experience within healthcare/public health/government. Professional level experience with event planning and managing press conferences. Demonstrated experience in writing correspondence, research reports, and/or speeches. Demonstrated excellent communication skills. Ability to develop a communication plan and to implement marketing and public relations projects.
