Description:

St. Mary Catholic Church and School, located in Rushville, IN, is seeking a Full Time Communications Director. The Communications Director will establish and execute a strategic communication plan that oversees that the vision and mission of the parish is communicated for St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Catholic School.

The communications director is to be the person who is always asking, “How can we make this experience better for our parishioners?” and how can we make sure that our activities, vision, and mission are communicated in the broadest and most professional way possible.

Job responsibilities will include:

• Maintain the stmaryrush.org and stmaryrushschool.org websites.
• Send Parish Flocknotes on a regular basis.
• Compile the Weekly School Flocknote to Parents.
• Coordinate all media requests.
• Communicate updates and activities on the Parish and School Facebook Pages.
• Communicate public messages to our parishes on new initiatives and projects.
• Take pictures and collect pictures of school and parish events on a regular basis.
• Write letters for Father as needed.
• Create and share stories of impact for the parish community and catechesis through all our layers of communication.
• Create new digital and print content.
• Edit any written communication needs for parish and school staff.
• Measure and report engagement across various platforms.
• Fill in for the parish secretary when appropriate, such as vacation times.
• Attend meetings as necessary and established by Father to be able to communicate to the parishes our goals and future plans.
• Investigate a parish app for our needs.
• Compile weekly pulpit announcements.
• Create marketing flyers for parish events and for St. Mary School.

Criteria:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field

Experience with social media

Experience designing flyers, advertisements, etc.

Written communication skills

Practicing and Engaged Roman Catholic preferred

We are open to this position being a Hybrid in person/ from home position, but some evenings and weekends will be required.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
