Job description

Scope:

Perform functions to sub-assemble and install designated components at final assembly phase of HVAC unit production, working in compliance with instructions and prescribed routines, methods or procedures and involving the making of minor decisions. The plant is currently located in Buena Vista, VA but a new plant is being built in Daleville, VA. We plan to move into that facility in mid-summer of 2022.

Assembly Essential Duties:

  • Work from bill of material (BOM), assembly drawings, prints, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to assemble sheet metal parts and components using various hand and power tools as needed.
  • Ensure availability, and validate and inspect all sheet metal parts, purchased parts, foam panels, and assembly drawings, ensuring they match the BOM. Notify supervisor or cell lead of any discrepancies.
  • Pre-assemble doors to include hinges, handles, cutouts, and sheet metal parts. Pre-assemble panels, and verify requirements for cutouts and sheet metal parts. Install fans, dx coils, condenser coils, dampers, heaters, condenser fans, sensors, door switches, view-ports, roof membrane, extrusions, floor grating, bird-screens, trim, hoods etc. as specified in work order specifications, BOM and assembly drawings.
  • Install, fasten base frame extrusion, door extrusion and roof extrusions following prescribed methods and best practices to ensure compliant fit and alignment.
  • Sub-assemble and install wire components as necessary, including wire sensors, motors, condensing fans wires, and door switches in compliance with wiring diagram.
  • Validate panel and door layout, and verify the correct quantity of panels and part numbers and inspect for cosmetic defects prior to installation. Install and fasten doors and panels and door hold backs. Install and fasten roof panels, and apply sealants.
  • Perform required final installations to comply with BOM including non-standard parts, labels, signs, and stickers. Install, fasten, and seal hoods and braces.
  • Complete quality assurance inspection and in-process paperwork.
  • Maintain safe, and organized work area. Notify supervisor, cell leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation.

Punch-Off / Prep-to-ship Assembly Essential Duties:

  • Work from bill of material (BOM), assembly drawings, prints, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to assemble sheet metal parts and components using various hand and power tools as needed to prepare equipment for shipment to customer.
  • Responsible for final prep to ship tasks of all Munters products.
  • Complete final quality assurance inspections.
  • Prepare unit for shipment (i.e. shipping covers, heat shrink, product stickers, ship loose materials, etc.).
  • Clean, assemble and cut wood materials used for shipping covers or crates.

Heat Exchanger / Small Equipment Assembly Essential Duties:

  • Work from bill of material (BOM), assembly drawings, prints, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to assemble sheet metal parts and components as necessary to build all facets of Munters Heat Exchangers, using various hand and power tools as needed.
  • Ensure availability, and validate and inspect all sheet metal parts, purchased parts, foam panels, and assembly drawings, ensuring they match the BOM. Notify supervisor or cell lead of any discrepancies
  • Perform required final installations to comply with BOM including non-standard parts, labels, signs, and stickers. Install, fasten, and seal hoods and braces using various hand and power tools as needed.
  • Complete quality assurance inspection and in-process paperwork.
  • Maintain safe, and organized work area. Notify supervisor, cell leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation.

Fan & Door Assembly Essential Duties (as deemed necessary):

  • Work from bill of material (BOM), assembly drawings, prints, wiring diagrams, and work instructions to assemble sheet metal parts and components using various hand and power tools as needed.
  • Build fan / motor assemblies in accordance with defined assembly processes.
  • Set-up and cut with Tiger saw aluminum extrusion material required to build doors and door jambs.
  • Assemble aluminum door jambs & doors in accordance with defined assembly processes.
  • Assemble non-foam panel door and jamb assemblies in accordance with defined assembly processes.
  • Final assembly of foam panel doors (i.e. install door handles and hinges).
  • Perform material handling procedures in a safe and effective manner.
  • Inventory control as it relates to the position (responsible for ensuring Kanban levels are maintained).
  • Adhere to Munters Quality System, maintain & submit Quality Assurance In-Process Check Sheets.
  • Observe and enforce all safety rules.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations throughout the factory, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to assist with training new employees, integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment:

Use hand and hand power tools, assembly fixtures, crane devices such as vacuum lifters, cranes and forklifts.

Minimum Personal Protection Equipment (PPE):

  • Safety Glasses – ANSI Z87.1
  • Ear Protection – ANSI S3.19
  • Knee Pads
  • Gloves – ANSI Cut 3 4544
  • Foot Protection, Steel Toe – ASTM F2413-11

Physical Demand:

  • Occasionally move up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, lift and reach.
  • Visual and aural acuity
  • Listening

Hours of Work Required:

  • Standard work schedules plus overtime and weekend hours will be required to meet production demands.
