Friendship Village Tempe is seeking a Full-Time Cold Prep Cook to join our team!

Pay Range: $16.23-$17.85 depending on years of experience

Scheduled: *****Required - Open Availability from 5:00am-7:00pm / 7 days a week***** (would not be working 7 days a week just cannot have any days or times that you are not available to be scheduled if needed)

SUMMARY: Prepares items for consumption for the buffet and on-the-go items featured in the Cafe as needed utilizing the highest culinary standards and in accordance with recipes. Interacts with team members, residents and guests in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Maintains food production service areas in a neat, clean, safe and sanitary manner. Follows all regulatory requirements as mandated by state, federal and local agencies. Prepares food to order in a fast paced environment.


STANDARD REQUIREMENTS:

  • Support, cooperate with, and implement specific procedures and programs for:
    • Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established

fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct

unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs.

  • Confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data.
  • Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from

sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

  • Support and participate in common teamwork:
    • Cooperate and work together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties

with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

  • Use tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Follow up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers or residents regarding

reported complaints, problems and concerns.

d. Promote positive public relations with residents, family members and guests.

e. Complete requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform

and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Prepares food for all areas of the department in accordance with production sheets, recipes and/or oral instruction from supervisors, utilizing the highest standards of quality and food safety.
  • Uses safe food handling practices and sanitary methods to protect the health of the residents and employees of Friendship Village Tempe.
  • Maintains work area in a clean, neat and sanitary manner at all times following sanitation policies of the department.
  • Labels, dates and rotates all food items according to health department codes.
  • Cleans all equipment used in the preparation of foods. Follows the master cleaning schedule.
  • Completes H.C.A.A.P. forms for any hot food item to be stored in the walk-in cooler.
  • Provides high quality, friendly service; exhibits a cheerful disposition towards all residents, guests and co-workers.
  • Responsible for any opening and/or closing duty checklists and additional cleaning tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families,

peers, and supervisors.

  • Perform any other duties or assume any other responsibilities as directed by department head or supervisor, or as is necessary to perform this job.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be responsible for arriving on time for your scheduled shifts.

2. Must adhere to all F.V.T. and Dining Services policies and procedures


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Graduate or GED is preferred.
  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Two or more years’ of culinary experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Effectively read, write, and communicate in English and follow oral and written direction

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

1. Able to compute basic mathematical equations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Must acquire a food handler’s card within 30 days of hire.
