Atlas is seeking a CNC Programmer with comprehensive experience in multi-axis CNC milling, including programming, fixturing design, setup with prove out and machine operation to support a wide variety of low volume, high tolerance fabrication needs.

This CNC Programmer position requires a self-driven professional looking to expand their abilities to include machining components and the development of new manufacturing processes to reduce cost and improve existing product designs.

  • Creation & Validation of CNC programs for CNC mills (Horizontal/Vertical/5-Axis).
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks).
  • Proficiency with programming in MasterCam & ESPRIT.
  • Proficiency with G and M code, and conversational programming
  • Knowledge of Mill-Turn and Swiss Style Lathe programming is a plus

This position requires a candidate who will specialize in CNC programming within high-tolerance machining with a strong background and working knowledge of machining practices, the properties of materials, and the application of mathematics and dimensions to production machinery and tooling.

Here's what you'll need to be considered for this exciting opportunity:

Minimum five (5) years of CNC programming – Solidworks and MasterCAM & ESPRIT. With a Minimum three (3) years of machining background on Horizontal and Vertical CNC Milling Machines to include but not limited to 2, 3, 4, and 5 axis, Mill-Turn & Lathes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and modifying CNC programs for multi-axis machines to produce accurate programs, setup sheets, and tool lists, enabling first-article success on high-tolerance & high-value parts.
  • Responsible for generating CNC programming, quoting machining cycle times, leads, and cultivating manufacturing techniques pertaining to reducing part cost and increasing part quality.
  • Working in conjunction with the Machine Shop Manager to make machine & tooling selections to manufacture parts in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Including fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
  • Take "ownership" of the success of assigned Programming projects and ensures timely completion of projects by ensuring:
  • Materials and tooling selection, procurement, and setup to meet component manufacturing needs, including auxiliary fixture design and fabrication.
  • Manage the selection and ordering of any cutting tools & holders needed for each assigned project.
  • Ensure needed materials are onsite before the setup and prove out of each assigned project.
  • Maintain CAD data to ensure up-to-date accuracy for production Rev's.
  • Efficient integration of existing methods with new process innovation to economically solve production problems in a timely manner.
  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Partner in machining process development & optimization (part setup/fixturing, machining strategy/order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed process parameter selection).
  • Perform other such duties as generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and/or 7-10 years' direct formal experience in multi-axis CNC milling machine programming (CAM), CNC machine operation, and GD&T.
  • Multi-axis Mill/Turn and robotic experience is a plus.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving, time management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to write reports and document processes and procedures.
