RCR Manufacturing Solutions is currently conducting a search for a CMM programmer/ lab technician.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a lab technician include the following but other duties may be assigned. **

  • Perform inspection(s) of components to determine conformance to all specifications.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines and make complex programs using GD&T correctly.
  • Qualify CMM probes, make custom probes, setup probe changer and established new calibration routines.
  • Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements on drawings and have an understanding on GD&T (example: True Position, Profile, MMC/ LMC, Circularity, Cylindricity, Straightness, Flatness, Concentricity, Runout, Perpendicularity, Parallelism, Symmetry and others.)
  • Utilize various manual measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, bore micrometer, test/ dial indicators, thread plug/ ring gages and other handheld measuring devices.
  • Perform calibration on all manual measuring tools to internal and manufacturing standards.
  • Utilize vision based equipment such as Optical Comparators, Microscopes or 2D profilers for measurement of parts or part characteristics.
  • Utilize formtracer, surface roughness tester, roundness tester and other lab equipment for evaluation.
  • Prepare company and customer inspection records as required to included, In Process Inspection Reports (IPIR), First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, Capability Studies and more. Accurately complete all required paperwork.
  • Understand and perform to all current quality standards.
  • Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Understanding of basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends.
  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes sufficient to support communication of findings to the production floor.
  • Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required.
  • Ensure the proper filing of inspection results on the company server.
  • Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times.
  • Perform basic weekly and daily maintenance of CMM machines.
  • Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements.
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication with other inspectors from multiple shifts, programmers, and machinists.
  • Embrace a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • Navigating QC lab data base.

**Education and/or Experience **

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • College or technical degree is preferred (will consider previous work experience).
  • Five years previous experience operating CMMs.
  • Advanced programming and operation experience using PCDMIS driven CMMs (CMM Manager, Camio or Calypso experience will be considered).

**Language Skills **

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary info:
