Job Summary:

To handle time-consuming administrative responsibilities for physicians during patient encounters. Scribes accompany a physician and directly observe patient encounters. They accurately document the events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. Scribes also complete clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests and medications. By accomplishing these time-consuming duties, the Scribe enables the physician to spend more time with individual patients and increase the overall flow of patients in the office.

Job Functions:

  • Accurate, timely charting of patient encounters, including but not limited to patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers, treatment course, diagnoses and prescriptions.
  • Professional, non-intrusive interaction with patients while scribing.
  • Compliance with practice and HIPAA policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: GED or High School Diploma required.
  • License/Certification: Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical scribe experience.
  • Proficient PC skills including ECW and Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Attend required annual in-service programs.
  • Participate in continuing education activities.
