Job description
Responsible for the management of all phases of clinical operations, including participation in the development of daily workflow within the practice.
Description:
  • Supervises all clinical staff within the office(s) and covers for Practice Manager when she/he is out of the office.
  • Evaluate patients and perform clinical intake. Include major complaints, medical history, and perform medication reconciliation. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
  • Prepare patients for exams including providing appropriate drapes, if necessary.
  • Assist physicians with minor procedures and exams as indicated.
  • Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
  • Under direction and guidance of the supervising provider, administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient. Arrange for disposal of contaminated items as needed.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
  • Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
  • Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
  • Answer triage telephone calls and provide advice per written office protocols and/or under provider supervision.
  • Prepare lab specimens and paperwork for pick up. Enter information into electronic medical record.
  • Maintain and stock necessary supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals. Keep inventory of supplies, order and maintain record of medical supplies ordered.
  • Restock and maintain general cleanliness of all clinical areas.
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
  • Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities. Attends monthly staff meetings and weekly Provider meetings to discuss patient care.
  • Performs Rx E-prescribing on behalf of the Providers
  • Manages Referrals to MDs outside of the practice
  • Keeps track of High Risk patients
  • Schedules clinical staff for office(s); Troubleshoots scheduling issues with Office Manager
  • Trains all Clinical staff in clinical protocols and procedures
  • Responsible for orientation and electronic record training specific to office/specialty
  • Works closely with Office Manager to ensure all policies and procedures are being followed by all office staff and providers.
  • Supports overall leadership of practice in the absence of practice manager
  • Resolves all lab errors with laboratories; Liaison for all clinical contacts
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must be licensed as a LPN or Registered nurse in accordance with the state of MA
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • At least 1 year nursing experience
  • BLS
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with all levels of personnel
  • Proficient in computer applications including Electronic Medical Record, Scheduling systems, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Process Improvement preferred
