Salary Range: $43.4100 - $67.2500 /hour

As part of the Sub Intensive Care Unit (SUB ICU) at Hoag Memorial Hospital, Newport Beach, you will give direct inpatient nursing care as per the California Nurse Practice Act, and in support of the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Being a Hoag Clinical Nurse I means serving our community by using research and evidence-based outcomes, and collaborating with members of your team to offer the highest level of care to those who depend on us.
Inside Hoag’s SUB ICU
Our Sub ICU features 27 beds and a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3. As a designated medical step-down unit, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of safe, timely, and appropriate, quality care to adult and geriatric patients requiring the following interventions: endotracheal intubation, invasive arterial and central venous pressure monitoring, tracheostomies, cardioversions, peritoneal dialysis, insertion of transvenous pacing catheters, chest tubes, pericardial catheters, and bronchoscopy.
Other duties may include:
- Delivering care for patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring, vassopressor therapy, mechanical ventilation, sedation, or induced Hypothermia.
- Experiencing complex cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory distress, or chest pain.
- Undergoing cardiovascular bypass procedures, including interventional procedures such as PTCA, stent placement, etc.
- With central venous catheters including multilumen, dialysis, PICC, etc., or those with chest tubes and temporary or permanent pacemakers.

Required
- Active California RN License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience in an acute care facility.
- Successful completion of a Critical Care course.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you haven't obtained a BSN upon hire, you will be asked to begin a BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain your BSN within two years of starting the program.
Preferred
- BSN.
- Critical Care nursing experience.
- Additional skills and knowledge of various equipment and software may be required.
