Brief Job Description

Reports to the Health and Wellness Manager. Directly supervises the nurses and nursing functions in the care of the sick and injured, prevention of illness and promotion of good health in compliance with state and federal government and management directives.

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the nursing functions of the department.
  • Assists the Health and Wellness Manager to provide staff training, evaluate nurses' performance, and recommend and implement nursing and personnel changes.
  • Develops and implements new and revised policies, procedures, and programs affecting delivery of nursing services.
  • Renders first aid treatment and assists physician in treating serious accidents or illnesses.
  • Treats minor injuries and illnesses according to physician instructions as authorized per healthcare guidelines.
  • Cleanse and dress wounds, operates emergency equipment and provides follow-up nursing care as required.
  • Prepares and administers specified medications and drugs.
  • Assists in developing programs to prevent or control diseases and accidents.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the center's family planning program.
  • Monitors students on bed rest in health and wellness center.
  • Supervises students assigned to practicum/work experience in the center's health and wellness facility.
  • Conducts cursory medical exams during students first 24 hours on center.
  • Conducts designated health and wellness special programs as assigned.
  • Provides case management services to students whose health needs require more intensive monitoring.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies including pharmaceuticals and durable medical supplies.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Registered Nurse with valid Oregon license to practice professional nursing and three years of nursing experience required. Must posses and maintain current CPR and first aid certification. Supervisory experience preferred.
