Clinical Communications Team Lead - Content Communications

Seeking a skilled Lead Communications Specialist. Is that you?


Work location: 612 E. Lamar Blvd. Arlington TX 76011. Remote position with occasional meetings at the tower. Candidate must be local.

Work hours: Full Time Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm flexible hours.

Here’s What You Need

  • Bachelor's Degree Journalism, public relations, mass communications, marketing or a closely related field is required
  • 7 Years Communications experience in a corporate, agency, or journalistic setting is required. And 3 years managing a team is required
  • Healthcare experience is preferred

What You Will Do

  • Content Creation
    • Create multimedia content for designated stakeholder audience (e.g. media, internal stakeholders such as physicians or nurses, etc.) that seeks to clearly articulate Texas Health's key messages and aligning with brand voice and tone.
    • Identifies opportunity to leverage content developed across channels and verticals within Brand Experience, working to leverage system tools for digital asset management. Obtains and records appropriate consent, tags assets and stores appropriately for cross-functional use and search.
    • Writes, edits, and gains approval on communications. Works closely with key stakeholders and leaders to determine distribution and approval processes.
    • Proactively plans content to anticipate business needs for Texas Health Physicians Group and clinical communication at Texas Health. This individual will not only be creating content but coordinating activity of content specialist and various contractor resources to achieve clinical communication objectives.
    • Understands all internal and external Texas Health communications channels and works to keep channel owner apprised of content under development and seeks to coordinate with existing schedules.
    • Works with subject matter experts to drive content development and build experience of clinical communication meetings, such as Texas Health Physicians Group provider meetings and webinars and nursing and medical staff webinars. Proficiently uses engagement tools such as Slido and technology to effectively communicate via a range of communication channels.
    • Monitors and tracks communications effectiveness, using data to drive best practices over time.
    • Serves as a brand advocate, working to create content that meets all brand standards and guidelines.
  • Internal and Clinical Communication
    • Serve as day-to-day communications contact for internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
    • Oversee one content specialist, manage relationships with contractors to meet clinical communication needs, and collaboratively work together at direction of leader to proactively drive clinical content for Texas Health and Texas Health Physicians Group.
    • Respond to requests from internal stakeholders for communication support; collaborating on story and memorandum content with subject matter experts, clinical and otherwise. Role requires individual to advance requests that indicate potential for unfavorable outcomes and those competing with organizational priorities.
    • Communicate with leaders about timing around content under development and team member sentiment.
    • Monitor internal channels and help develop responses as needed, mindful of brand voice and tone.
    • Track and share perspectives on emerging internal communications channels and emerging internal media, with a goal of increased team member engagement and adaptations as needed to internal channels. Look for opportunities to leverage Texas Health subject matter experts.
    • Supports internal communication for clinical communications with a focus on localizing key strategic priorities and supporting key strategic initiatives. Works in conjunction with key stakeholders to localize key messages.
    • Serves as a communications liaison assigned areas/departments/entities. Individual will anticipate needs as well as elevate and integrate strategic system communication for continuity and understanding across the organization.
  • Internal Counsel and Relationships
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with leadership throughout the system including, service line leaders, physicians, CMO, CNE and others to identify story ideas and provide counsel as needed.
    • Influence and persuade subject matter experts on the most effective methods of communication to effectively reach clinical audiences.
    • Marshall resources to effectively meet clinical communication needs of the organization via direct reports, indirect reports and collaborating departments.
    • Coordinate across Brand Management functions the clinical activities of the enterprise to maximize stories about clinical outcomes.
  • Essential Functions
    • Offer direct and persuasive counsel relative to the value of proposed story idea and offer alternative approaches more likely to ensure success as needed. Coach and counsel contacts using candid, direct approach with regard to delivery and tone of talking points and key material.
    • Encourage and initiate media training for spokespeople as needed.
    • Serve as effective team lead guiding collaborative communication, working closely with leader and Stakeholder Engagement and Brand Experience leader teams. Monitor and manage content specialist and determine most effective allocation of resources to promote and encourage effective clinical communication across the system, including engaging and managing multiple contractors.
    • Demonstrate effective time management skills and prioritization to juggle a high-volume of requests across the clinical communications spectrum.
    • Effectively represent Brand Experience in meetings with subject matter experts and clearly update leader and others in Brand
    • Experience to drive cross-function collaboration.
