Job Summary
The Cardiac Clinical Associate is responsible for assisting in providing basic nursing care to a group of patients. Additionally, this role provides clerical, secretarial and housekeeping support in a designated unit. This associate is responsible for the performance of electrocardiograms on patients throughout the hospital. In addition to performing EKGs, will be responsible for clinic associated functions such as performing vital signs, assisting nurses with basic nursing care to a group of patients, assisting with clerical and secretarial support in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.
Pay Range
Minimum $17.38 Midpoint $23.02 Maximum $28.66
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
  • Required: Graduate of an accredited/approved cardiovascular program, MA program, CNA program, EMT program or student nurse who has completed at least one (1) quarter or semester of clinical experience, or CET certification.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of EKG experience in a pediatric setting.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited/approved cardiovascular program, CNA program, EMT program or student nurse who has completed at least one (1) quarter or semester of clinical experience, or CET certification.
Specialized Skills
  • Required: Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with highest standards; Basic knowledge of medical terminology; Excellent customer satisfaction skills, effective communication skills; Excellent verbal and written skills; Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner; Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others. Ability to perform work according to CHOC’s policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws. Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in response to unexpected changes in workload/staffing. Demonstrates the ability to provide appropriate care based on the physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of all age groups of patients.
Licensure
  • Required: Basic Life Support (BLS). Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, Emergency Medical technician certificate, proof of one (1) semester or quarter of nursing school completion or CET certificate.
Work Environments - Functional Demand:
Light - Moderate energy level Lift and carry 25-35 lbs. Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
